Rocky Woods has 15 campsites designed for the entire family, with boating, fishing, and miles of trails to explore.

Rocky Woods offers a safe family friendly camping experiencewithout having to venture far from home. The property is home to 15 walk-in campsites, with amenities that include bathrooms, dish sink, outdoor showers and a few camping essentials for purchase

Holiday weekends are open through Monday: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day & Indigenous Peoples Day. 

  • Price includes 4 campers – $10 per additional person.
  • 6 person maximum (2 tents) at each campsite.
  • Trustees’ members receive a 10% discount. To become a member, with access to all 120 of the Trustees properties, please click HERE.
  • Sites 1-10: Family Friendly sites close to the pond and Visitor Center. A 5-10 minute walk with a wheelbarrow.
  • Sites 11-15: Newer ‘backcountry’ campsites, tucked deeper in the forest for a quiet, more intimate camping experience.  A 10-15 minute walk with a wheelbarrow.

Important Information:

  • No alcohol, fireworks, or loud music
  • Check-in is between 3p – 8p. Please call if you will be later than 8p.
  • Check-out is 12pm. Staying beyond checkout time will result in being charged a full day campsite fee.
  • Parking: No vehicles are allowed beyond the Visitor Center parking lot. We provide wheelbarrows to help you bring your gear to the campsite.
  • Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am.
  • Trash and unwanted equipment must be removed from the campsite at departure.
  • Food should not be left unattended—please store in airtight containers or in car.
  • Pets: If you are planning on camping with your dog, you must bring a copy of your proof of rabies vaccination. Dogs must be kept on leash.

Fire Rules and Safety:

  • 1 bundle of wood per campsite, per night
  • Fires may be limited or not permitted, based on recommendations from the fire department. Please check our website for updates.
  • To prevent the spread of harmful insects and diseases to trees, wood must be purchased on site and not brought from home.
  • Keep fires in designated fireplaces and never leave a fire unattended.
  • Extinguish fires by 10p. Morning fires are not permitted. Please be mindful of day hikers.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Visitors that do not arrive or call by 8pm on the first day of their reservation are not eligible for a refund and are not guaranteed their site.
  • For cancellations made 14 days or less before arrival, no refunds are given.  This includes no reservation changes under 14 days out.
  • For cancellations made 15 days or more before arrival, a $20 processing fee will be kept, and the remainder will be refunded or credited towards a different reservation in that season only.

Things to do:

  • Rent a canoe or kayak from the Visitor Center or cast a fishing line from the shoreBoat Rental pricing is $20 an hour- Open Saturday and Sunday morning.
  • Hike the three-quarter-mile loop around Chickering Pond—the largest of the reservation’s five man-made ponds for a fun family outing. Feeling adventurous, take the Mine Hill Loop along the 420-foot-high Mine Hill Ridge or summit Cedar Hill for the tree top views.
  • Visit Powisset Farm nearby to hike, see farm animals, and purchase goods from the farm store.
