As Trustees staff and administration, we are lucky to see many of our Members through emails and social media posts. Their experiences are well worth sharing with everyone. This blog introduces us to Diane from Bedford.

Q: Do you have a favorite Trustees property?
A: When we lived in Medfield, and later in Needham, I was a regular visitor to Rocky Woods, Rocky Narrows, and Noanet Woods. We always had dogs, usually two at a time, and I have the happiest memories of taking them for runs through the woods in all seasons. My favorite property is probably Noanet Woods. I love the varied terrain and the fact that it runs into Hale Reservation so that a walk in the woods can turn into a real hike. Fruitlands has a special place in my heart. When my son was a little boy he loved rolling down the sloping lawns, and when he grew up we celebrated his wedding there. We also enjoy visiting other properties in the state, particularly in the Berkshires.

Q: Why did you choose to become a Member?
A: We became members to support the preservation of open space and historic properties like Castle Hill and The Old Manse. There is no other organization in Massachusetts that has done so much for so long for the environment. Now the explosion of new properties, new projects, and programs is just mind-blowing.

Q: Is there a Trustees program or event that you participated in that you especially loved?
A: For the past two years we have thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas lights at the Stevens-Coolidge Place and Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate. The lights at the Bradley Estate this year were so uplifting in a Covid Christmas.

Q: Where would you recommend a first-time Trustees visitor go?
A: This is like asking which is your favorite child. So many choices, but I guess it depends on location. For the visitor in Eastern Mass, I would suggest Noanet Woods/Powisset Farm for the outdoors, deCordova for a museum, and Fruitlands for the outdoors and the museum.

Q: Where will you be heading for your next outdoor adventure?
A: We are living in Bedford now, sadly without a dog at the moment, so we’ve been staying closer to home. When the weather gets better, I’m looking forward to visiting Malcolm Preserve and Mary Cummings Park.
