Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover hosting Winterlights this year? After many wonderful seasons, Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens will not be participating in Winterlights this holiday season. As stewards of the gardens, we must make challenging decisions that ensure these special places continue to thrive today and for generations to come. We are continuing to prioritize preservation of the historic gardens and structures, and are investing in year-round programming that aligns with the Trustees mission and values. We are so grateful for the countless guests who bundled up and joined us year after year to celebrate the season and create lasting memories with us! Explore other December holiday events taking place this year at Stevens-Coolidge.

Why does Naumkeag have different parking zones? Parking is off-site to provide access for more guests. Look for tickets in another zone if none are available in your preferred area on the date/time you would like to attend.

How do Naumkeag’s parking zones work? Each zone will have a staff member check you in and a shuttle pickup every 5–10 minutes from 4:30–8PM. The last return shuttle will depart Naumkeag at 9PM when the property closes.

Can I drop people off at Naumkeag’s Main Gate? No, on-site parking and drop-offs at Naumkeag’s Main Gate are NOT allowed. All Naumkeag guests are required to take a shuttle bus to the property which can be picked up at your designated parking zone check-in location (see above).

Are the sites wheelchair or stroller accessible? Due to terrain conditions and age of the properties, many routes are not wheelchair or stroller accessible and may be difficult to navigate for guests with limited mobility. Event pathways include sets of stairs, sections with a running slope greater than 5 degrees, uneven surfaces, and uncompacted surface material. Please reach out to winterlights@thetrustees.org with any accessibility questions.

Can I change my date or time? We cannot accommodate date or time changes. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable across dates.

What happens if I show up early or late for my entry time? Please check in within 15 minutes of your designated time slot. Early/Late arrivals may need to wait to accommodate those with correctly timed tickets.

What is the weather policy? Winterlights will operate rain or shine. However, heavy snow or unsafe conditions will cancel that day’s event. If we must cancel due to weather, guests will be notified by email and receive further information regarding a refund or rebook (when applicable).

Are dogs allowed at Winterlights? No, dogs are not allowed.

Will restrooms be available? Yes, restrooms will be available.

What should I wear? The event will take place outdoors. Please be prepared to walk through unpaved pathways on uneven terrain through the woods and gardens. Trails may be muddy or icy at times, sturdy boots are recommended. Dress appropriately for the weather that day.

Can we tailgate? To ensure everyone’s safety, tailgating is strictly prohibited.

Will food and drink be available for purchase? Yes, concessions will be sold at both locations.

Are the historic homes open during Winterlights? Naumkeag’s first floor will be open to visitors, and the first floor of Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate is integrated into the event pathway (there are no guided tours).

How long does it take to walk through? On average, expect to spend about an hour walking through Winterlights.

How did Winterlights come about? Winterlights has been a staple of the Trustees holiday season since 2018. Read more about it—alongside the origin of these festive lights—here.
