Farmer, Forester, Chef! Camp located at historic Powisset Farm in Dover is about getting outside, spreading wings, expanding senses, fostering imagination, and digging in—on the farm, in the forest, and in the kitchen. Friendly and experienced educators welcome campers for weekly sessions, each of which is packed with fun, engaging, and educational activities on our 109-acre working farm and at neighboring Noanet Woodlands reservation.

On the Farm
Each day, campers learn about farming and where food comes from—both vegetables and livestock—by participating in activities as varied as composting, planting, harvesting, and preparing soil for crops. They get to know the most important members of our farm team—chickens, pigs, sheep, goats, and rabbits—by caring for the animals, collecting eggs, and learning about animal life on the farm.

In the Kitchen
Great farming translates into fantastic food, so our junior farmers also become chefs each day through cooking lessons in Powisset’s fully equipped teaching kitchen. Campers learn about healthy, farm-fresh foods while preparing delicious recipes. They indulge in their creations at the end of each class and bring recipes home to share with families.

In the Woods
Junior Forester days focus on exploring our natural world. Campers visit Powisset’s extensive nature trails or neighboring Noanet Woodlands, where they hike the hills and trails and discover the wonders of woodland flora and fauna.

Our place-based practice is inspired by this exceptional property while building on The Trustees’ expertise in nature conservation, historic landscapes, regenerative agriculture, and culinary education.

All programs will follow the 2022 Massachusetts State guidelines for Covid-19.

Parent Testimonials

You did a phenomenal job adjusting and adapting the program to state requirements and protecting the health of campers and staff. Both staff and children wore masks (properly!), which was our biggest concern going into camp. Thank you for this sorely needed opportunity for structured, social fun outdoors! Kudos to the Trustees, Jamie and team!

The first day was a little rough, and I communicated my concerns to Jamie- she went above and beyond to address them and clarify what actually happened. 🙂 My daughter ended up having a fantastic week and was really proud of her creations- food and friendship bracelets! We appreciate everything you did to make the camp happen- it’s been a lifesaver for us as working parents, but also the first chance in many months for our child to have socialization again in a safe environment.

Powisset Camp is our girls’ absolute favorite, you all do an amazing job and especially so this summer with all the COVID concerns. Our daughters went to the camp last summer and we weren’t sure how it would compare this year because of all the safety measures, but it was every bit as wonderful while still providing a very safe environment for the kids. The girls woke up early every morning to get ready for camp, they were so excited to go, and we only wish we had signed up for more weeks. It is apparent how much hard work Jamie and all of the counselors put into the experience there, we could not love it more and will be back next summer!! Thank you for everything!
