Programs in Action 2026

Urban Outdoors builds long-term partnerships in cities where access to green space, healthy food, and climate resilience are most urgent. Rather than bringing pre-set programs into cities, we work alongside partners to co-create programming that is responsive, place-based, and led by community priorities.

Together with community partners, we:

  • Support community-led stewardship of urban green spaces, including community gardens, urban farms, urban wilds, and neighborhood gathering spaces.
  • Expand access to nature through place-based programming, outdoor learning, and community events.
  • Strengthen food access and food sovereignty through community agriculture and land-based initiatives.
  • Create pathways for youth leadership, environmental learning, and future careers in conservation and stewardship.
  • Advance climate resilience through projects that strengthen communities’ connections to land, food systems, and green infrastructure.
  • Explore future urban land conservation opportunities by working with community partners to better understand local landscapes, stewardship needs, and long-term visions for protecting and activating urban green spaces.
