In celebration of Pride Month, we welcome you to join us for a Queer Nature Walk set among the woodlands, formal gardens, and historic home of the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton, MA. This guided experience explores the vibrant history of queerness in the natural world while introducing the stories behind the estate’s landscape and gardens.
As we move through meadows, forest paths, and thoughtfully designed garden spaces, you’ll hear about plants and animals native to Massachusetts and beyond whose lives challenge common assumptions about sex, gender, and family structure. Interwoven with these ecological stories is the history of the Bradley Estate itself. We’ll share the life of Eleanor Cabot Bradley, the creation of the 1902 country house, and the evolution of its gardens. As we walk through the formal European-inspired layouts to more naturalistic plantings, we can reflect on the way nature expands beyond the binary. The landscape offers a fitting backdrop for a walk that celebrates complexity, resilience, and the many ways life resists simple categorization. By the end of the walk, participants will see the natural world with fresh eyes, recognizing queerness as a natural, ancient, and essential part of life on Earth.
