About Scenic Songs with Mark Erelli and Dinty Child

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts and music lovers! Join us in scenic locations across the state with some of your favorite performing artists for a special, unplugged live music experience like no other. These acoustic shows are unique opportunities to enjoy live music in community and nature.

On Saturday, September 13th join Mark Erelli and Dinty Child for a Scenic Songs Two-Part Event at World’s End!

Dinty Child (Session Americana) and Mark Erelli’s initial collaboration happened at a songwriting retreat on Lake Winnipesaukee just over a decade ago. “Look Up,” their first co-write, is a magical song that follows a winding narrative through the eyes of the janitor at the Sistine Chapel, the Renaissance painter Michaelangelo, and God. Child and Erelli were so taken with this initial composition that they kept on writing together each year, and now have over a dozen co-writes, released both on each other’s solo albums and as standalone collaborative singles. Dinty Child is a founding member of the beloved regional supergroup Session Americana, and has deep roots in the Boston music scene, playing with everyone from The Chandler Travis Philharmonic to the twenty-piece Funky White Honkies. Mark Erelli is as likely to be found fronting a string quintet, a bluegrass band, or a rock n’ roll trio, as he is serving as a sideman for noted artists like Lori McKenna and Josh Ritter. For the first time, multi-instrumentalists Child and Erelli will combine forces for an intimate evening of storytelling and joint renditions of their expanding shared catalog.

This unplugged show at 5:30pm will take place atop Planter’s Hill with views of the Boston skyline. The performance site is a 0.4 mile walk on carriage paths from the parking and ranger’s station. We recommend arriving by 4:45PM to allow time to walk to the performance site. For guests with limited mobility, accessible parking arrangements can be made for closer access to the performance site. Please reach out to escheck@thetrustees.org for questions about accessibility.

We recommend guests bring a camp stool or blanket for comfortable seating at showtime. We will also have a limited number of camp stools available for use.

Hike with the Artists

Interested in extending your experience? Join all the artists on the trail prior to showtime for a special Guided Hike. This more limited capacity add-on experience offers participants the opportunity to get to know the artists and each other with time together out on the trail.

Hike will set off from the Wakeman O’Donnell Center at 3:30pm and end at the performance site on Planters Hill with time to settle in before the concert begins at 5:30pm. This easy-to-moderate hike will be approximately 1mile in length and will take us around the first World’s End drumlin with beautiful views of the coast. If time allows, we will venture onto the second drumlin, adding a half mile to our hike.

We invite guests to join for the unplugged concert only or purchase a combo ticket for the concert and hike combined experience. Please note, registration is required and space is limited. Parking is included with either ticket type.
