About Chocolate Candy Making with Jan Campbell

Got a sweet tooth? Join Jan Campbell, founder of Chilmark Chocolates, in this hands-on class! Participants will learn basics of chocolate tempering and create their own box of chocolates to take home with them. There will also be an opportunity to make your own chocolate bunny for the upcoming holiday.

About Jan Campbell

Jan is a third generation candy maker. Her father, uncle and grandfather manufactured the chocolate that Ben and Jerry’s, Hilliard’s, Godiva and many other businesses used, including Chilmark Chocolates when she put her father’s teaching to work and started that business upon graduating from college in 1984.

When she left the Vineyard to get a teaching degree, she happily handed the business and all my recipes over to Mary Beth and Allison, who ran it brilliantly until 2019. Meanwhile, in the 90s, she opened another chocolate store in the Hudson Valley, where, in addition to dipping chocolate and teaching about chocolate, she also got to make toffee and caramel and to create recipes for gelato and ice cream.

She can no longer eat sugar or dairy, but still loves playing with chocolate whenever she can! This workshop should give you a chance to play and be creative with chocolate, and, if you like, learn enough about working with chocolate that you will be able to make beautiful and delicious chocolates at home, whenever you want!
