Cool Off at Crane

Beat the summer heat at Crane with chair & umbrella rentals, a treat from the snack shack, or a memento from the store.

The summer is heating up, and Crane Beach is the perfect place to cool off.

After June heat set records in Massachusetts, many folks found themselves at the shore, soaking in the cool Atlantic currents at Crane Beach. Located in Ipswich, water temperatures June through August don’t tend to exceed 65 degrees, making the ocean the perfect refuge from the sun’s rays.

Want to head to the water but not sure you have all the supplies to enjoy a day in the sun? Don’t let that stop you. Crane’s beach store offers many beachgoing essentials, including sunscreen, flip-flops to make the trek over the scorching sand, baseball caps to protect your scalp and eyes from the sun, and of course, a t-shirt or sweatshirt to commemorate the day.

The Crane Beach Store offers a variety of rentals.

If you’re looking to enjoy the luxuries of beachgoing without investing in your own beach chairs and umbrella, the store offers daily rentals for visitors – just stop by on your way out to the beach and pick up what you’d like. Chairs are $25 each a day, and umbrellas are also $25 each. If folks opt to rent two items, the cost goes down to $45. There is a $100 deposit returned to visitors upon return of their items by 4:30pm the day of their rental.

“We are excited to offer beach rentals for our visitors in the summer,” said Chris Moore, Director of the Crane Estate. “It’s a great option for those who may not venture to the beach often, have limited storage space to work with at home, or aren’t looking to spend money on extra beach items. We hope it allows more folks to enjoy a refreshing day at the beach during these increasingly hot summers.”

Don’t have a cooler? Don’t worry, the Crane snack shack has the perfect beach food to fuel your day. Not only is there a Del’s Frozen Lemonade stand, offering a classic New England delicacy, there’s a plethora of food options for every taste. A favorite is the Beach Buddy Bucket, which is served in your very own beach bucket – take it back to the sand with you to create masterpieces on the shore. The meal, intended for small appetites, includes chips, apple juice, and a choice of sunbutter, sunbutter and jelly, a hotdog, or a quesadilla.

While you’re by the store and snack shack, be sure to use the amenities at the bath house, including picnic tables, rinse stations, changing rooms, water fountains, and bathrooms.

Crane Beach has 25 accessible parking spaces available on a first come-first-serve basis for admission ticket holders. There is a waterproof beach wheelchair, which visitors can inquire about at the beach store. If you have mobility challenges, the Crane team will give you a ride from the parking lot to the main beach front and back. Inquire at the beach store.

We can’t wait to see you at the beach!
