About New Moon Walk

Walk into the darkest sky of the month with the Trustees Boston Resilience team for an easy evening walk along the Neponset River Greenway.

August 12 brings a New Moon and a double feature. Earlier that day, a partial solar eclipse crosses the Northeast — and after dark, the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak. With no moonlight to compete, this is the best stargazing night of the summer.

Walk starts at 7:30pm, sunset is at 7:51pm, and we’ll be out until 8:30pm. Peak meteor activity comes later in the night, so bring a blanket if you want to stay and watch after the walk.

Dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes, and don’t forget your water bottle!

Registration required just so we can keep track and send updates!

Meet at Pope John Paul II Park – near the playground

No rain date. If the weather is bad, we will be meeting at the Adams Street Branch Library.

WHO IS THIS FOR? This is an all ages walk, please bring your friends, siblings, grandparents, dogs, everyone!

GOOD TO KNOW:
