About Friends of Ward: Spring Wildflowers of Ward Reservation

Join us for a guided springtime walk through the scenic trails of Ward Reservation, where New England’s native wildflowers are just beginning to bloom. This immersive experience will highlight three fascinating plant groups: delicate spring ephemerals, species with seeds dispersed by ants, and unique plants that can change their gender from year to year. This walk will be led by a volunteer from the Friends of Ward.

Participants will enjoy a 2–3 mile hike over natural terrain, with the walk lasting approximately 2 to 2½ hours. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the hidden stories and seasonal rhythms of the landscape.

This program is best suited for adults and older children who are comfortable walking on dirt trails with hills, roots, and uneven ground. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress for the weather. Bringing water is recommended, and a hand lens or camera may enhance your experience.

In the event of poor weather, a rain date for the walk (May 10) will be scheduled and all registered participants will be notified via email with updated details.

Please note: Dogs are not permitted at this walk.

Space is limited—pre-registration is required for this event. This program is rain or shine! In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
