
Gather for a joyful day of reflection, learning, and community at the return of this annual celebration honoring the life and legacy of Elizabeth Freeman, whose landmark 1781 case contributed to the abolition of slavery in Massachusetts.
Bring this powerful history to life as you explore the historic home where Freeman’s courageous fight for justice began. Take a look at the newly updated Elizabeth Freeman Interpretive Exhibit, join us for a guided tour of the historic Ashley House, or simply relax on the lawn with music from beloved local artist Wanda Houston and enjoy food from local vendors.
Please bring lawn chairs or blankets for the concert as these will not be provided for you.
Schedule of Events:
11am-2pm: Music by Wanda Houston on the lawn
10am, 11:30am and 1pm: The Revolutions of The Ashley House: A Guided Tour. Pre-registration required.
2pm: Join our Bartholomew’s Cobble ranger, for a guided hike from the Ashley House to the top of Hurlburts Hill. Pre-registration required.
All Day: Lawn games, children’s activity, historical readings, light snacks/drinks and more!

*Please note:* Parking will be located off site at our neighboring property, Bartholomew’s Cobble, 105 Weatogue Rd, Sheffield, MA 01257. From there, you can walk the trail to the Ashley House (approximately a 10 min walk) or take our complimentary shuttle.
