This hands-on program is geared towards children and families, and is led by our special guests from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. Participants will assemble a life-size puzzle of a juvenile white shark and a life-size puzzle of an adult white shark. Learners will then discuss how sharks grow and change from juvenile to adult and what is required for them to grow. With examples of shark teeth to discuss how feeding and diet change, this program will demonstrate how sharks need food to grow and swim! Participants will then take their investigation a step further by exploring the similarities and differences between white sharks and whales, boney fish, seals, and more. Through interactive exploration, learners will develop an understanding of how marine animals utilize and travel ocean waters in various ways.
Our guests from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy are also offering a lecture later the same day at The Crane Estate: Awareness Inspires Conservation, 4/22 from 6-7:30pm: https://thetrustees.org/event/425258/
Shark enthusiasts might want to join us for both events and enjoy a walk or picnic on the Estate grounds in between the programs.
This is a family-friendly program welcoming learners of all ages which includes hands-on activities to engage curiosity. This program is best suited for ages 5+.
