Fancy all things British? Join us for afternoon tea in Castle Hill’s English-inspired Great House with Curt DiCamillo, author of A British Country House Alphabet – the first volume in a trio of pictorial books highlighting the historical origins of British games, common phrases, architectural treasures, and traditions, including afternoon tea! Did you know that afternoon tea was popularized in England by the 7th Duchess of Bedford at Woburn Abbey?
Beginning at 2PM in the Great House Ballroom, our afternoon tea will include tea, sandwiches, pastries, and other sweets. During the tea, at approximately 2:30PM, Mr. DiCamillo will give an illustration-rich presentation showcasing some of the houses and stories in his book, followed by a book-signing. Copies of the book will be available for purchase from the Castle Hill Gift Shop – a perfect Mother’s Day gift for your favorite Anglophile!
Curt DiCamillo is an architectural historian and authority on the British country house, as well as the Curator of Fine Art for the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston. Mr. DiCamillo also leads scholarly architectural tours of Great Britain and maintains an award-winning database – The DiCamillo Companion to British & Irish Country Houses.
