Fruitlands Museum, Harvard
6PM – 8PM
We will celebrate the opening of a dynamic new exhibition of the Native Art Collections at Fruitlands Museum. Among several Eastern Woodlands communities, instead of the four cardinal directions, there are seven – north, south, east, west, up, down, and center. From these directions, these places, our people emerged onto Turtle Island (the continental US). These directions are derived from what is known as a medicine wheel, which encompasses directions and concepts that guide daily life such as the personal body, the seasons, colors, and times of the day. Using this framework, this newly installed exhibition gallery will feature historic and contemporary works of Native art from Fruitlands collection.
