About the Artist

Lisa Regopoulos paints a pastel landscape

Lisa has always been creative and even as a child gravitated towards colors, form, and shape. Her earliest memories are of painting animals with Captain Bob on TV, helping her mom grow flowers in the garden, and then arranging them into displays for the house. When she reflects on “why art” she feels it was a natural progression for her into visual art, because she loved flowers, animals of all kinds, the ocean, and colors. It became an important form of self-expression. Her series of paintings often reflects the things she loved as a child.

She shares her life with her husband Spy, daughter Alexis, and their one-year-old Rough Coated Collie, who are her best friends and supporters. Spy often travels with her on her Plein Air adventures, which have taken her throughout the United States and many National Parks. Her favorite is Acadia National Park in Maine with its seascapes, rocks, and rugged nature. Lisa teaches art and leads regular painting trips for her students to Europe, including Italy and France. Her latest trip was to the Cotswolds in England with a group of artist friends. We’ll see some of these paintings in the upcoming exhibit.

About the Art

Winter Hay Bales

Lisa enjoys adventure and considers herself an explorer who always wants to see what’s around the next corner. She loves getting a “feel” for a place, which could mean walking, taking the metro, and meeting new people. She is a long-time Trustees of Reservations Member and often explores the organization’s diverse properties. Doyle Community Park in Leominster is her favorite, where she and Spy have walked almost daily for decades. She feels she resonates with this property and plein air paints there often, especially during the winter months when there are plentiful hay bales in the field. Snow-covered bales are a favorite of hers to paint, as you’ll see at her Wayside solo exhibit. Other top Trustees properties of hers are Fruitlands Museum, The Crane Estate, and Naumkeag.

Lisa’s one-woman show will consist of several themes: flowers, animals, seascapes, and landscapes. She will be on hand periodically in the Wayside to give art demonstrations and plein air lessons to visitors. She is a talented and award-winning artist who loves to share her gift with students of any level.
