Brian Therrien joined the Trustees in July 2022 as Chief Financial Officer. He leads the Accounting & Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Risk Management teams and collaborates closely with outside counsel on financial, legal, and regulatory matters.
Brian has more than 20 years of experience in fiscal management and leadership positions within the non-profit sector. Prior to joining the Trustees, Brian spent 12 years at the Museum of Science as the Controller and then Senior Vice President of Finance and Building Operations. During his tenure at the Museum, Brian oversaw all finance and accounting related functions, facilities and security, special events, and information technology while serving as a resource and strategic thought partner to all departments.
Under Brian’s fiscal leadership, the Museum expanded its award-winning curricula division and offerings to reach an international audience and accomplished the largest capital campaign in its 190-year history. Brian also served as the liaison to the Museum’s Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees and worked closely with the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders to help the Museum navigate the financial uncertainties of the early 2020s.
Prior to the Museum of Science, Brian worked as the Assistant Controller for the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston. He began his career as an auditor at the public accounting firm RSM.
Brian is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.A. in Accounting from The University of Massachusetts Lowell. He lives in Tyngsboro with his wife.
