Monadnock Falconry

About Flying Into Fall: A Birding Adventure Celebrating October Big Day 2025

Celebrate the beauty of the season at Fruitlands Museum with a day inspired by feathers, flight, and fall color celebrating the Global birding event October Big Day.

We are excited to partner with three different birding organizations on this exciting day!

At 10–11:30 AM, the Boxboro Birders will be leading a guided bird walk along the Fruitlands trails. If you miss the first one, from 2–3:30 PM, the Brookline Bird Club, will be leading a second guided walk. Or join both! Discover the vibrant birdlife that calls this landscape home. Please meet guides in front of the Wayside Gallery.

Tap into your creative side with drop-in artmaking at our Wayside Gallery between 11 AM and 3 PM. Using leaves, feathers, and other natural materials, you will create one-of-a-kind monoprints that capture the spirit of the season.

The highlight of the day takes place at 1 PM, when Monadnock Falconry brings beautiful birds of prey to the Museum grounds outside our historic Farmhouse. Get an up-close look at these extraordinary hunters and learn about the essential roles they play in our ecosystems. Please note: due to limited capacity, the Falconry Demonstration requires a different ticket than general event registration. Tickets for the Falconry Demonstration include both the Falconry Demonstration and admission to the overall event and may be purchased here.

Registration Options:

All tickets to this seasonal celebration also includes admission to Fruitlands’ historic houses, Shaker and Transcendentalist collections, and art galleries. It is the perfect way to welcome autumn, through nature, art, and the awe of seeing a falcon take flight against the hills of Harvard, Massachusetts.

Cancellation Policy: In the event The Trustees cancels a program due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify registrants by email and issue a full refund or transfer to another scheduled program within two weeks of the cancellation. To cancel a reservation, please contact Fruitlands Museum 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund. Refunds and transfers will not be granted for cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program.  As a general policy, The Trustees does not issue refunds for weather-shortened programs, in keeping with our standard approach to outdoor programs and the unpredictability of New England weather.
