“I do a little bit of everything,” Elnora Tompson said when asked about her role as garden coordinator at Nightengale Community Garden, one of the Trustees’ 56 community gardens in Boston. “This garden means the heart of Dorchester. It means that we can feed people, and this garden is a community in itself.”
Elnora was recognized by the Trustees this year for her incredible volunteerism as garden coordinator as the organization’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year.
“I love this community, and I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else. So, I work very hard to keep this neighborhood a neighborhood.”
