A number of events and programs are being offered this September in the Berkshires by The Trustees of Reservations, including live music, a wine walk, birdwatching, outdoor yoga, and much more.  

Live music events include:  

Naumkeag at Night with Kina Zore on Sept. 7 – This Boston-based Afropop band will take the stage at Naumkeag in Stockbridge at 6 p.m. for the final Naumkeag at Night show this season. Light refreshments will be sold on site. Pre-registration for this concert is strongly encouraged, though some limited tickets will be available on-site.  

Peter Mulvey’s Trustees Bike Tour on Sept. 8 – Western Massachusetts-based musician Peter Mulvey is going on tour – on his bike – and his first stop will be at Notchview in Windsor. For his 15th bicycle tour, Mulvey is performing live at five Trustees sites this September. Bring your camp chair or picnic blanket for this special performance.  

Fall birdwatching events are on tap in the Berkshires as well, with several offerings: 

Bartholomew’s Cobble in Sheffield will have guided birding hikes on Sept. 9, 16, 23, and 30. Each hike starts at 9 a.m. with a ranger taking participants on a different trail on each date. Wear sturdy hiking boots, dress in layers, and bring drinking water.   

Field Farm in Williamstown will offer guided birding walks with our partners from Adventure East on Sept. 10 and 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. Binoculars will be provided, or you can bring your own. All levels of birders are welcome. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, dress in layers, and bring drinking water.  

Notchview in Windsor will also offer a guided birding hike with Adventure East from 9-11 a.m. on Sept. 16. Binoculars will be provided, or you may bring your own. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, dress in layers, and bring drinking water.  

For those who prefer being outside to relax and rejuvenate, The Trustees are offering these programs in the Berkshires: 

Mindfulness Meditation at Naumkeag – On Sept. 8 from 4-5 p.m. join facilitator Sandrine Harris for a mindful meditation session. Meet in the Afternoon Garden for short walking, sitting and lying down meditations. No level of experience is required. Adults 18 years and older. If raining, participants meet under the shelter in the Chinese Garden. 

Star Gazing at Notchview with Arunah Hill Natural Science – On Sept. 9, join the amateur astronomers of Arunah Hill, who will have telescopes set up so you can view the stars and volunteers will answer your night sky questions. The program runs from 7-10 p.m. and participants should meet up at the Visitor Center lodge. Dress warmly for a chilly evening and wear comfortable shoes.  

Wine Walk at Naumkeag in Stockbridge – Unwind on a wine walk with a horticulturalist through the gardens of Naumkeag on Sept. 13 starting at 7 p.m. The walk includes a glass of wine and this month’s program will focus on tropical and unusual annuals in the gardens.  

Fall Equinox Forest Bathing at Bartholomew’s Cobble in Sheffield – Join facilitator Sandrine Harris on Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. for a one-hour guided forest bathing journey. Wear comfortable shoes for flat terrain walking. Participants 18 and older are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m. and park in the main parking lot. No previous meditation experience is required. 

Nature Journaling with Nanci Worthington at Bartholomew’s Cobble in Sheffield – On Sept. 30, join artist Nanci Worthington to learn how to observe nature around you and put down on paper what you see, hear, and feel. Participants should meet at the visitor center. Pre-registration is required and you will need to bring your own materials.  

If history captures your imagination, there are two programs this September in the Berkshires being offered by the Trustees: 

Ashley House Tour in Sheffield – On Sept. 16 at 10 and 11 a.m., tours will be available of the Ashley House in Sheffield. Come learn the importance of this colonial home in Massachusetts’ history. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.  

Mohican Travels Through Storymapping at the Mission House in Stockbridge – On Sept. 23, join Maggie Bennett as she creates a broad overview of Stockbridge-Munsee travels and significant historical events through storymapping, which allows Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners alike to associate modern day sites with Tribal history. While this event is free, pre-registration is required due to limited space.
