Inspired by our new installations by Sylvia Lopez Chavez, we are looking to the intricate patterns and structures of the natural world and creating our own crochet coral reefs!
Both in her new mural in the Museum Building and her interactive installation in the Sculpture Park, Chavez explores the micro and macro patterns that shape the natural world, from leaves and mushrooms to shells and other aquatic creatures. Many of these intricate natural scructures can be modeled using crochet and other fiber art techniques!
This beginner friendly workshop will go over basic techniques and stiches needed for the project as well as time to create your own coral reef! All skill levels are welcome!
All materials for this project, including tea for sipping, will be provided. Advanced registration is required.
Tickets to this workshop include Museum admission for the day.
