About Fern Walk

Join Ranger Robert for a 45-minute guided fern identification walk along the 1.5-mile Ledges Trail at Bartholomew’s Cobble. Explore one of the region’s richest fern habitats and discover more than 53 fern species growing among the Cobble’s unique limestone rock formations and alkaline soils.

This easy-paced hike will introduce participants to a wide variety of ferns, including marginal fern, ebony spleenwort, maidenhair spleenwort, walking fern, bulblet fern, marginal wood fern, and many more. Along the way, your guide will share insights about fern identification, geology, and the special habitat that makes the Cobble such a botanical treasure.

Perfect for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, and anyone curious about the fascinating world of ferns. Comfortable walking shoes and water are recommended.
