About Explore! Southeast: Walking Tour of Weir River Farm & Whitney and Thayer Woods

This program is part of a monthly series featuring guided walking tours at different Trustees properties across Southeast Massachusetts. Each month we explore a new location, offering a fun way to discover the region’s landscapes and stories.

Discover the natural beauty of Weir River Farm and Whitney & Thayer Woods on a guided walking tour! Led by an experienced guide, this walk will take you through rolling pastures, peaceful woodland trails, and some of the most beautiful vistas on the South Shore, all while sharing the rich natural history that shapes these special places.

Whether you’re new to the properties or a frequent visitor, this tour offers a fresh perspective and a deeper appreciation for the landscapes, wildlife, and stories found throughout Weir River Farm and Whitney & Thayer Woods.

This 2‑hour moderate walk will take visitors through hilly pastures and forested trails, with stops along the way to take in views, discuss the history and ecology of the sites, and enjoy the unique character of these cherished Trustees properties. Whitney and Thayer Woods trails are generally wide, with occasional gentle inclines and uneven terrain. Weir River Farm pasture trails feature steep inclines that may be difficult for some.

The hike will begin at the Weir River Farm parking lot located at 140 Turkey Hill Lane, loop through Weir River Fam and Whitney and Thayer Woods, and end back at the original starting point.

Pre-registration is required online and space is limited.

Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days.

Please note that the route is subject to change.

We love our furry friends, however, dogs are not permitted in this program.
