About Tree ID Walk at Haskell Public Gardens

Come and explore one of New Bedford’s urban green spaces at Haskell Public Gardens and participate in the Greater New Bedford City Nature Challenge! This City Nature Challenge is a part of a free 4-day worldwide event where the public helps conservation science, by taking photos of wild organisms in their community and uploading them to iNaturalist – a website dedicated to identifying wildlife, for everyone!

In the Greater New Bedford area, The Trustees and Mass Audubon are teaming up to make it simple for everyone to join in. We’re hosting four free guided walks through different local habitats during the event, from April 24 to April 27. On this walk, we will learn how to download and use the iNaturalist mobile app and explore Haskell Gardens to make observations of different urban species of plants, animals and fungi. Please consider also joining us at one of our other guided walks!

  • Friday April 24, 2:00PM to 4:00PM – Tree ID Walk at Haskell Public Gardens
  • Saturday April 25, 4:00PM to 6:00PM– Shells, Snails and More! at Fort Taber Park
  • Sunday April 26, 4:00PM to 6:00PM – Woodland Walk on the Ross Mathieu Trail
  • Monday April 27, 3:00PM to 5:00PM – Urban Wildlife Watching at Brooklawn Park

No experience needed! Just bring your curiosity and a phone or camera. Every observation helps track biodiversity and supports wildlife conservation in your community!
