Camp 2021 Registration is open

2021 FULL-DAY, WEEK-LONG SESSIONS
JULY 12 – AUGUST 20
FOR AGES 5-10

The ALL NEW Rocky Woods Nature Explorers Camp at historic 491-acre Rocky Woods Reservation in  Medfield is about outdoor adventures in the forest and by the ponds where campers will meet new friends — including frogs, beavers, bugs, woodland creatures, and much more! Our friendly, engaging nature counselors will welcome campers aged 5-10 for weekly sessions 9AM-3PM to discover this varied landscape. Nature Explorers will learn about flora and fauna, identify trees and discover animal habitats, go ponding,   create nature crafts, and explore the trails and favorite features of Rocky Woods.

Discovering Life In the Woods Nature Explorers have lots to discover at Rocky Woods. The reservation is known for its great trail systems, scenic overlooks, numerous ponds, geological features and abundance of woodland learning opportunities.  Campers will discover animal habitats — including the popular beaver construction sites – identify songbirds, listen for bullfrogs, track small forest animals and go ponding to witness the wonders of life under water.

Delighting in the Outdoors Campers will participate in many outdoor activities including picnic hikes to Whale Rock and Cedar Hill, and learning to build a fire to cook yummy food in an outdoor stove. They’ll help forest friends by creating bird feeders and bat houses. And of course, campers will learn the secrets of identifying trees, woodland flowers, and bugs galore.

Spreading Wings Rocky Woods Nature Explorers will love the wonders of woodland flora and fauna.  They’ll record their new learnings in nature journals, discover special crafts projects, and meet new friends so they can share just one more S’more!

Parent Testimonials

You did a phenomenal job adjusting and adapting the program to state requirements and protecting the health of campers and staff. Both staff and children wore masks (properly!), which was our biggest concern going into camp. Thank you for this sorely needed opportunity for structured, social fun outdoors! Kudos to the Trustees, Jamie and team!

The first day was a little rough, and I communicated my concerns to Jamie- she went above and beyond to address them and clarify what actually happened. 🙂 My daughter ended up having a fantastic week and was really proud of her creations- food and friendship bracelets! We appreciate everything you did to make the camp happen- it’s been a lifesaver for us as working parents, but also the first chance in many months for our child to have socialization again in a safe environment.

Powisset Camp is our girls’ absolute favorite, you all do an amazing job and especially so this summer with all the COVID concerns. Our daughters went to the camp last summer and we weren’t sure how it would compare this year because of all the safety measures, but it was every bit as wonderful while still providing a very safe environment for the kids. The girls woke up early every morning to get ready for camp, they were so excited to go, and we only wish we had signed up for more weeks. It is apparent how much hard work Jamie and all of the counselors put into the experience there, we could not love it more and will be back next summer!! Thank you for everything!
