BOSTON — For the sixth year, thousands of carved pumpkins and “gently spooky” attractions await visitors at a variety of Trustees of Reservations properties this fall, including the return of the Halloween on the Hill at Long Hill in Beverly and the Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show at Naumkeag in Stockbridge.

The Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from Oct. 1-31. Halloween on the Hill at Long Hill will be open Wednesdays through Sundays starting Oct. 3 through Oct. 30, with additional days on Oct. 27 and 28. Ticket sales for the pumpkin shows opened early for Trustees members on Sept. 4 and will open to the public on Sept. 10.

Each show includes thousands of carved pumpkins, mums, light displays, and themed decorated areas all set among the grounds of the two historic properties. Both shows will have new elements this year, including interactive displays. The pumpkin shows are family-friendly events geared toward all ages.

A sensory-friendly hour is available from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on select Fridays at Long Hill. New this year are two additional daytime timeslots on Saturdays and Sundays from 12–2 p.m. and 2–4 p.m. at Naumkeag. Perfect for garden enthusiasts, families, or anyone seeking a quieter, more peaceful experience, the new daytime options let visitors enjoy the show and the garden’s beauty at your own pace. Guests selecting the 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. timeslots may stay for up to two hours. Please plan to arrive within 15 minutes of the ticketed time. The daytime tickets cannot be extended into evening hours, which begin at 4 p.m.

Timed-entry tickets are required for each show. Tickets are not sold at the event venues and must be purchased in advance online at www.thetrustees.org/halloween.

In addition to the two signature pumpkin show events, The Trustees will offer several other Halloween-themed events in October:

Boo in the Barnyard, Weir River Farm in Hingham — Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and come meet the barnyard animals every Saturday in October at Weir River Farm in Hingham. Families can also participate in a festive scavenger hunt, create a seasonal craft, and enjoy a sweet treat. The hour-long program will be offered twice each Saturday at 10 and 11 a.m. A sensory-friendly Boo in the Barnyard will be offered at 1 p.m.

Haunted Fables from the Gables, Concord Museum in Concord – The Concord Museum and House of the Seven Gables are partnering with The Trustees to offer this program on Oct. 21 as part of Concord’s Festival of Authors. Come meet Salem’s master storyteller, Nathaniel Hawthorne. The famous author will perform his most frightening tales, as well as those from fellow author Edgar Allen Poe. Trustees’ members will receive a discount when purchasing tickets for this event.

Boo in the Barnyard at Powisset Farm in Dover – Children are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes for this special trick-or-treat event on Oct. 24 at Powisset Farm in Dover. From 2-6 p.m., families can meet the barnyard animals, collect special treats, make a special Halloween craft, find the hidden pumpkins on the pumpkin scavenger hunt, play pumpkin bowling, and take a hayride. Brick oven pizza, cookies, popcorn, cider, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.

Spirits of The Old Manse: A Candlelit Encounter with the Past in Concord – On Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31-Nov. 1, join a rare, intimate experience in an 18th-century home that witnessed the start of the American Revolutionary War. This is a new fully guided, story-driven experience designed to bring out the emotional resonance and layered past of the house – not just what happened here, but how it felt. Flashlights will be provided. This experience is best for visitors ages 10 and up. Timed entry tickets are required and must be purchased in advance.

Halloween in the Morning Mist at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln – On Sunday, Oct. 26, join us at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum from 10 a.m. to noon for some gently ghoulish activities for toddlers and preschoolers. Educators will be leading an activity to explore spiders with a collaborative rope web installation and sculptures inspired by the 8-legged arachnids. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, and all ages are welcome.

Dog Halloween Costume Contest at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln – Bring your furry friend in their Halloween costume to deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum on Sunday, Oct. 26, for a dog Halloween costume contest. Starting at 11 a.m., the contest will award special prizes for Best Human and Dog Duo Costume and Most Creative Dog Costume. Extra points will be awarded for costumes that are art- or artist-themed. Dogs must be on a leash and get along with other dogs. Water for the dogs will be provided. Afterward, visitors are welcome to picnic in the park.
