About Where Land Meets Sea: A Coskata–Coatue Nature Tour

Join our expert guides for an unforgettable over‑sand vehicle adventure through the pristine landscapes of the Coskata‑Coatue Wildlife Refuge. Explore a mosaic of rare coastal habitats, including sweeping barrier beaches, vibrant salt marshes, and dynamic marine ecosystems, and discover the fascinating plants and wildlife that call this unique place home. Along the way, you’ll learn how rising sea levels and increasingly powerful storms are reshaping this fragile coastline, and how The Trustees are working to protect and strengthen the resilience of these critical natural areas. Wildlife sightings are common, with opportunities to observe iconic coastal bird species such as ospreys, northern harriers, American oystercatchers, piping plovers, and terns. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for seals, often seen resting along the shores.

Our tours are conducted safari-style, meaning this experience is enjoyed sitting in the open air. Guests can enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of the refuge as the tour embarks across the sand; ideal for total immersion with the landscape and the ability to capture the beauty of Coskata-Coatue, both with a camera and in memories! Tour Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Departures:

• May & October: Tours run Thursday–Sunday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
• June, July, August & September: Tours run Thursday–Monday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Pricing:

• $75 per person ($65 for Trustees Members)
• Private tour: $350 To request a private tour, please email nantucket@thetrustees.org with your name, phone number, number of participants, and available dates.

Parking is on the street only; the gatehouse lot is not available for tour parking.
Guests are responsible for their own transportation to the gatehouse.

Cancellation Policy

• More than 24 hours in advance: 50% cancellation fee
• Less than 24 hours or no‑shows: No refund
• Tours run rain or shine.
• If unsafe conditions prevent access to the refuge, the tour will be canceled and fully refunded.
