Calling all hiking enthusiasts and music lovers! Join us on the trail with some of your favorite performing artists for guided hikes and intimate live music experiences like no other. These unplugged and acoustic shows are unique opportunities to enjoy live music in community and nature.
On September 19, join Rachel Sumner at North Common Meadow, exploring the trails into Brooks Woodland Preserve.
Praised by audiences for her powerful, lonesome voice and haunting songs, Rachel Sumner carefully spins melodies that get caught in your head. Best known as the former guitarist and singer-songwriter from bluegrass string phenom Twisted Pine, Rachel has emerged as a dynamic solo artist, fronting her new band of lush, low-voiced strings and captivating listeners with elegantly intricate arrangements. A Berklee-trained flutist turned roots music songwriter, Rachel writes heartfelt but catchy songs delivered with candor and an achingly beautiful yodel. Drawing on her diverse love of pop, classical, country, and folk, she has become one of the most vital voices in Boston’s thriving roots scene, writing award-winning songs and touring internationally.
For this program, we will meet at North Common Meadow and hike a moderate out and back route into Brooks Woodland Preserve before returning to the meadow for Rachel’s uplugged acoustic set. Any questions about accessibility? Reach out to Catherine at cshortliffe@thetrustees.org.
Trail snacks provided. We recommend that guests bring a portable camp stool or blanket for seating during the live music set. We will also have a limited number of camp stools available for use.
Please note, audience size for this intimate offering is limited and pre-registration is required.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been held for this program on Sunday, September 20th. Any scheduling changes will be communicated to registered guests via email.
