Shells, Snails and More! at Fort Taber Park
Fort Taber Park
New Bedford
Saturday, April 25, 2026
Come and explore one of New Bedford’s coastlands at Fort Taber Park and participate in the Greater New Bedford City Nature Challenge! This City Nature Challenge is a part of a free 4-day worldwide event where the public helps conservation science, by taking photos of wild organisms in their community and uploading them to iNaturalist – a website dedicated to identifying wildlife, for everyone!
In the Greater New Bedford area, The Trustees and Mass Audubon are teaming up to make it simple for everyone to join in. We’re hosting four free guided walks through different local habitats during the event, from April 24 to April 27. On this walk we will learn how to download and use the iNaturalist mobile app and explore Fort Taber Park and Beach to make observations of different marine species of plants, animals and fungi. Please consider also joining us at one of our other guided walks!
No experience needed. Just bring your sense of curiosity and a phone or camera. Every observation helps track biodiversity and supports wildlife conservation in your community!
