About Mother's Day Coffee with the Cows at Appleton Farms

Celebrate Motherhood and all that it contains with this special hike to visit the Appleton cow and calf herd. Meet these Mamas and their babies as they spend their morning grazing in our beautiful pastures. Coffee and pastries will be provided by our team so you can “graze” alongside the cattle and enjoy the physiological benefits of being outside in the open air in the presence of these loveable creatures.

This event will begin at the white farmhouse, where you will meet our Livestock Manager and fellow Mom, Zoe MacKay. Zoe will lead you on a hike to the Great Pasture, where you will learn about the Appleton cattle that call these fields their home and the farming practices of the Trustees. The group will be allowed to enter the pasture alongside the herd to be surrounded by their presence. While these animals are not bred for human interaction, they are well socialized through the daily handling of our livestock team. They may or may not allow themselves to be touched- they ultimately call the shots!

Be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and dress in layers and close toed boots or shoes that are good for hiking in potentially muddy spots or over uneven hilly terrain. This event is weather permitting and will last approximately 2 hours, walking in moderately hilly and uneven terrain about half of that time, or approximately 1 mile.  The other half of the event will be spent in the pasture alongside in close proximity to the herd. The entire event will be hosted outdoors.

While this event is intended for all types, makes and models of “Mom” to be in community with each other, non Mom’s are also welcome to purchase tickets or join their Mom counterparts. This event is open to adults only, no children under the age of 18 will be allowed.

Space is limited for this event and pre-registration is required.

Event will be held rain or shine with some exceptions due to extreme weather as determined by Appleton Farms. In the event of cancellation you will receive an email and can also keep an eye on our social media. Refunds are only available in the event that Appleton Farms cancels the program, and to those who notify us 7 days in advance of the program date.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 

• Program Refunds/Cancellations: In the event that a program is cancelled due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and issue you a full refund within 14 days of the cancellation. If you cannot attend a program as planned, contact appletonfarms@thetrustees.org at least 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund or transfer to another date/class. Refunds and/or class transfers will not be granted for registration cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program. There are no refunds for missed classes. Appleton Farms reserves the right to change program locations, schedules, or instructors when necessary. 
• Where to park: When you arrive at the farm, go right at the fork at the Welcome House (towards Farmhouse, Carriage Barn & Offices) and park in the lot next to the white Farmhouse / Farm Offices.   The group will meet on the front porch of the farmhouse.
