About Stories of Naumkeag: A Guided House Tour
Step into the Gilded Age at Naumkeag, the Choate family’s summer estate in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. This guided house tour invites you through richly appointed rooms filled with original furnishings and art, offering a window into the lives of Joseph Hodges Choate—a distinguished lawyer and U.S. Ambassador—his wife Caroline, an artist and advocate for women’s education, and their daughter Mabel, a visionary who transformed the estate’s gardens. Each room tells a story, blending personal history with architectural beauty, making this tour a captivating experience for all visitors.
Please note:
- Preregistration is required.
- This tour is limited to 12 participants and is not recommended for children under 13.
- The tour begins at 4 pm and lasts about 1 hour. Guests are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes early but can check in at anytime before 4.
- Afterwards, spend time exploring the gardens and enjoying refreshments from our pop up cocktail counter. The property will close at 6 pm.
- General admission to the property is included with your ticket.
