About Cow Connection at The Farm Institute
Come meet, cuddle, brush, and walk with our hand-raised cows at The Farm Institute! Enjoy a 45 minute Cow Connection session with our Belted Galloway heifer team, Venus and Iris, our Scottish Highland steer, Owen and our bottle baby Holstein, Brian. Enjoy both the scientifically-proven physiological benefits as well as the relaxing effects of being outside in the open air on our scenic historic farm. The mild heart rate and warm body temperature of the cows induces a slowing of our own heart rate, as well as the release of Oxytocin, our social bonding hormone.
Not only can you enjoy the amazing benefits of Cow Connection, but our bovine friends will also benefit from the love and affection you provide. This will help in their training, handling, and temperament, making them amazing educational cows for all of our programming as well as our local 4H clubs that work with them. The capacity of this class is small to maintain an intimate personal experience. Do you like to paint, take photographs, meditate, practice yoga, or just visit cows and learn about them? Let us know and we can tailor the class to you.

This is a weather-dependent program and will not run in inclement weather. You will be notified day of by e-mail if this program will not run. We will meet in front of our Katama Barn, please wear closed toed shoes.
Program Refunds/Cancellations: In the event that a program is cancelled due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and issue you a full refund within 14 days of the cancellation. If you cannot attend a program as planned, contact lbrown@thetrustees.org at least 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund or transfer to another date/class. Refunds and/or class transfers will not be granted for registration cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program. There are no refunds for missed classes.
