Join Long Hill’s Senior Horticulturist Dan Bouchard for this hands-on late winter pruning workshop where participants will learn skills for winter pruning and techniques for identifying different shrubs and trees. Participants will start the day by looking at different pruning tools that can be used and maintenance techniques for these tools. Participants will learn key pruning methods and techniques using Long Hill’s tree collection as your guide! As part of this collection, participants will learn the variety of types of trees at Long Hill, learning how to ID these trees in the winter by looking at bark, branching habits, buds, and bud characteristics.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own pruning shears and gloves for the workshop. This workshop will be entirely outside, so please dress appropriately for cold and possibly wet weather.
We love our furry friends, however, dogs are not permitted at this workshop.
