Join us for a pond exploration at Rocky Woods!
Straddling the Charles River and Neponset River watersheds, Rocky Woods’ four ponds are important links to the area’s rivers and streams, supporting an abundance of wildlife including deer, frogs, birds and varied plant life. In this expertly guided excursion, we will also see evidence of Rocky Woods’ long history of human use and examine how nature has reclaimed the forest.
This moderate, approximately 3-mile hike up and over the hills of Rocky Woods will visit Chickering, Notch, June and Echo Ponds and their surrounding habitats. Sturdy footwear and a daypack/bag with water recommended. Even though we love our dogs, no dogs are allowed on this hike.
Meet at the visitor’s center ready to spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours on the trail.
