What a summer we have underway here at The Trustees: foggy, soggy and, then – hooray! – sunny! Whatever the weather, we offer so many ways for you to create lasting memories with your loved ones. Whether you hit the water as part of a Crane Estate Kayak Adventure or head over to Fruitlands Museum to experience Rachel Hayes’ new exhibition, The Edge of Becoming, summer delights await.
And delicious delights, especially. What better way to enjoy the company of others than with a beautiful picnic? In this issue of Special Places we highlight reservations that are truly hidden gems – and perfect for picnicking – recommended by our staff statewide, as well as tasty meals dreamed up by our chefs. Visit one of our farm stores to stock up and get cooking.
Here’s our most exciting news. This week Katie Theoharides stepped into her role as President & CEO of The Trustees. Please join in me in welcoming Katie and please stay engaged with us as her leadership and vision take shape.
Finally, a note on some changes we are making to Special Places. We will always have unique stories and exclusive first looks at upcoming events for Members, but we are moving toward doing so in a more sustainable way. We’re excited to share that Members will now receive their printed issue of Special Places semi-annually, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. This change will save nearly 42,000 pounds of paper every single year and help us deliver on our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint. We’ll continue to deliver timely, informative, and priority content to Members through a mixture of quarterly digital and semi-annually printed content.
As a valued Member of this community, we hope these changes allow you to receive information about the events and content you care about the most. Please click here for the most up-to-date information on programs. We hope this helps you explore and experience all that our specials places have to offer.
Wishing you a summer filled with adventure and delight,
Nicie Panetta
Outgoing Interim President & CEO
