Nature for All: Connecting People to Special Places
We believe nature is for everyone—forever. We are dedicated to ensuring that all people, from all backgrounds, feel welcomed, respected, and connected to the special places we protect. This work is deeply rooted in our founding and mission. We are actively working to remove barriers, build partnerships, and share fuller, more accurate stories, so everyone can access the healing power of nature and see themselves reflected in the places we care for.
We are making nature more accessible through:
– Programming that reflects and celebrates the diversity of all communities
– Expanding property and programming accessibility
– Strengthening our inclusive workplace culture and staff experience
– Building relationship with and learning from Indigenous communities
– Honoring the full history of the places we protect and the people who have shaped them.
We are working hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy the places we care for, and we continue to create solutions for accessibility. Today we offer accessible trails and other features at some properties, as well as adaptive equipment at certain locations.
We are actively working to make visiting Trustees properties more accessible. Here’s how you can plan your visit to a Trustees property near public transportation.
Many of the Trustees properties are free and open to the public. For our paid entry properties, we offer free or reduced admission for veterans, active military, seniors, and individuals and families with limited income. Through several programs, we provide opportunities to access our cultural sites and properties for a wide range of visitors.
Join us in celebrating diverse cultures! Whether you’re exploring something new or reconnecting with familiar traditions, we invite you to engage, learn, and grow with us. All events are open to everyone.
The Trustees provide food resources to many communities. Our Mobile Farmers Market brings fresh produce to neighborhoods, supporting diverse culinary traditions and helping ensure everyone has access to healthy food. Our Boston Community Gardens, spanning 56 gardens in eight neighborhoods, help transform urban spaces and foster connections among neighbors, creating opportunities for shared growth and community-building.

We care for and protect many sites where many of the deepest histories remain largely unknown. We are committed to educating ourselves and sharing what we learn.
