About Friends of Ward: Deer Management Walk at Ward Reservation

Walk amongst the Fall foliage at Ward Reservation and join leader Bob Dalton for an informative hike to one of the vegetation monitoring sites used to evaluate the effects of White-tailed Deer in on our forest ecosystem.

This discussion will cover topics such as deer biology, impacts on vegetation, birds, and mammals due to high deer populations, the ten tallest method of vegetation browsing monitoring, Trustees’ deer management strategies, and the positive outcomes of hunting.

This walk is approximately 1 mile in length. Participants should wear appropriate footwear and attire. Due to the nature of this program, dogs are not permitted at this walk. In case of imclement weather, the raindate for this walk is Sunday, September 14 (9:00 am). Participants will be notified via email if any changes are made due to weather related conditions.

Please Note: Weather related changes can be made up until the morning of the event. Please check your email before arriving for any last minute changes.
