About Native Plants in Urban Gardens

Native plant expert Lacey Berg will discuss the importance of natives, highlight species that do well in urban gardens, and share how to grow your own native plants at home from seed. We will discuss the germination requirements of native plants, including cold stratification and scarification, and how they differ from growing common commercial seeds. Participants will leave the workshop with some native seed packets as well as some freshly sown native seeds. Believe it or not, now is the best time to plant many natives!

This workshop will take place at the Hyde Park Branch of the Boston Public Library, in Menino Hall.
