About Scenic Songs: A Hiking Concert with Erin McKeown

Calling all hiking enthusiasts and music lovers! The Trustees is pleased to announce new season of “Scenic Songs” hiking concerts to take place at properties across the Commonwealth in 2024. Join us on the trail with some of your favorite performing artists for a guided hike and intimate live music experience like no other. These unplugged and acoustic shows are unique opportunities to enjoy live music in community and nature.

On June 1st, join Erin McKeown on the trail at World’s End!

Erin McKeown is a musician, writer, and producer known internationally for their prolific disregard of stylistic boundaries. Their brash and clever electric guitar playing is something to see. Their singing voice is truly unique —clear, cool, and collected. Over the last 20 years, they have performed around the world, released 11 full length albums, and written for film, television, and theater, all the while refining their distinctive and challenging mix of American musical forms.

Erin’s first musical, Miss You Like Hell, written with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes, opened Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2018. It was nominated for 5 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Lyrics, Best Music and Best Orchestrations, and The Wall Street Journal named it Best Musical of 2018.

Leading their own band, Erin has performed at Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and the Newport Folk Festivals. A familiar presence on NPR and the BBC, McKeown’s songs have also appeared in numerous commercials and television shows.

Erin’s latest album KISS OFF KISS is out now, and they are a 2022-23 fellow at The University of Chicago’s Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry.

Trail snacks provided. We recommend that guests bring a portable camp stool or blanket for seating during the live music set. We will also have a limited number of camp stools available for use.

World’s End Reservation Trail Hike Details: Easy-to-Moderate

This 2 to 2.5 mile hike will take participants around the first drumlin, past Planters Hill, over “The Bar,” and onto the second World’s End drumlin. We will stop mid-way after walking along one of our most popular trails, to enjoy Erin McKeown’s music against the backdrop of the Boston Harbor. This route includes slight inclines and some uneven ground.

Plenty of parking is available and there are public restrooms available at the Wakeman O’Donnell Center.

Please note, audience size for this intimate offering is limited and pre-registration is required.

In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been held for this program on June 2nd from 4-7pm. Any scheduling changes will be communicated to registered guests via email.
