About Sensory-Friendly Spring Festival Hour at Weir River Farm

Join us at Weir River Farm for the Sensory-Friendly Spring Festival Hour!

This program offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and quieter sensory friendly environment. Any family that would benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome. Participants are welcome to stay past the sensory friendly hour to enjoy the festival longer!

Grab your friends and family and join us at Weir River Farm for our Spring Festival! Visit with our farm animals, climb aboard a tractor, and make a farm craft! Participate in the implementation of a beautiful art installation designed by Aaron Asis and Illegal Art. Don’t forget to play some fun festival games, get a farm tattoo!

Be sure to grab some food from Mom on the Go food truck, Just the Dip, and Tambo’s Kitchen. Enjoy ice cream from Ellie’s Treats ice cream truck, and sip local beer from Stellwagen Beer and Vitamin Sea Brewing. As you’re enjoying tasty refreshments, listen to live music by Ash & Eric and The Lied To’s!

In celebration of spring renewal and stewarding the earth, we will host eco-friendly vendors and local eco-partners. Stop by their tables to shop sustainable and eco-friendly products and learn about their good work preserving our beautiful planet.

Sensory-Friendly Resources

Resources available to prepare for your visit include a Social Story Guide available online, here. A special sensory kit and visual story guide are available. You may borrow noise-reducing headphones and sensory items from the staff for easier access during your visit. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits and headphones available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need.

Please contact South Shore Engagement Manager, Elyssa Scheck, at weirriver@thetrustees.org, with any questions or special requests.

About the Field of Dreams art installation:

Consisting of a series of sculpted paths, the public will be invited to record personal messages onto a piece of botanical seed paper in response to the following prompt: Share a message of hope with the land to inspire a better future.

Each message will then be buried into the earth by a wooden stake topped with a ribbon that waves in the wind in unison with those of other participants. Participants will then be invited to reflect on their words as a means of inspiring a sense of connectedness to the hopes and dreams of others — as well as to the land that nourishes us all.

Thank you to the Plymouth Cultural Council, Duxbury Cultural Council, and Kingston Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council for their partial funding of this installation.

Music Line-up:

  • 11AM-2PM – Ash & Eric
  • 2-5PM – The Lied To’s

Volunteering at the Spring Festival:

Interested in volunteering at the Spring Festival? We are looking for volunteers to greet visitors, help with admission, assist with our sustainability initiatives, help with kids’ crafts and activities, and more. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, click here. Volunteers receive free festival admission!

Admission and Ticketing:

Admission includes everything except food and beverages. This event runs rain or shine. Admission fee is per person. Tickets available online or at the door. We encourage visitors to bring reusable items that they might need throughout the day such as a refillable water bottle.

This program is rain or shine! In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Parking and Accessibility:

The Spring Festival will take place on the lower portion of our property, near the barnyard and Red Barn. Parking is located in the lot on the upper portion of our property, located across from the Studio at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. To reach the lower event area and barnyard, enter the “chute” directly across from the lot and follow it down to the barnyard. Please note that it can be difficult to push strollers up and down the chute and we highly recommend carriers in lieu of strollers.

Accessible parking is available. Please follow signage or contact us at weirriver@thetrustees.org for accessible parking directions.

We love our furry friends, however, as this is a working farm, dogs are not permitted on the property.
