About Sensory-Friendly Open Barnyard at Weir River Farm

Welcome to Sensory-Friendly Open Barnyard at Weir River Farm!

This program offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and quieter sensory friendly environment. Any family that would benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome.

During the Sensory-Friendly Open Barnyard series, you’ll have the opportunity to experience life on one of the last working farms on the South Shore. In the barnyard, meet our piglets and other barnyard friends. Have a chance to interact with our goats – they love to be pet! Then, consider exploring the woodland trails. Come experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer!

Pre-registration is required for this event. Children 2 and under are free.

Resources available to prepare for your visit include a Social Story Guide available online, here. A special sensory kit and visual story guide are available in the barnyard. You may borrow noise-reducing headphones and sensory items from the staff in the barnyard for easier access during your visit. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits and headphones available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need.

Please contact South Shore Engagement Manager, Elyssa Scheck, at weirriver@thetrustees.org, with any questions or special requests.

This program is rain or shine! In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Parking is available in the lot located across from the Studio at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. To reach the barn and barnyard, enter the “chute” directly across from the lot and follow it down to the barnyard.

We love our furry friends, however, as this is a working farm with live animals, dogs are not permitted on the property.
