About Jazz Concert at Hutch

Celebrate the end of summer with a family-friendly jazz concert on beautiful Hutchinson’s Field. Enjoy beer, wine, snacks, field games, and great music from Fred Woodard Collective. Bring your friends, chairs & blankets, and a picnic, if you like!

Fred Woodard Collective:

Veteran Boston jazz guitarist Fred Woodard comes from the Wes Montgomery and Grant Green schools of elegant post-bop funk — thumb-picked, tensile lines spun from crafty tunes — with a contemporary spin of hip-hop and avant-garde.

Fred Woodard has been leading his own jazz groups since 1988. His groups have performed extensively making appearances events such as The Newton Jazz Festival, The Big Head Community Festival, and The Providence Jazz and Blues Festival. In 2016 he founded and organized the Dudley Jazz Festival and it has been an annual event since then. In 2006, The Fred Woodard Trio was named “Best Band Jazz” at the 1st annual New England Urban Music Awards.

Location:

Governor Hutchinson’s Field is located at 227 Adams Park, a short walk from the Lower Mills Trolley Line station. Park on the field, entering through the opening in the stone wall on the left side of the field. Parking on Adams Street is not allowed. Questions? Contact arabiyah@thetrustees.org.
