Join Mohican author and Tribal Elder Rick Church as he shares how his writing offers a deeper, more authentic view of Native identity in today’s world while confronting and correcting Hollywood myths about the “Mohican warrior.” A former combat Marine and law enforcement officer with over 26 years of service, Rick brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifetime of dedication, duty, and cultural pride.

The Community Voices Series features members of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community for a lineup of programs that challenge old myths, honor enduring truths, and create space for dialogue, reflection, and learning. Each speaker brings their own lived experiences and cultural knowledge as they share their views on Native identity, history, land stewardship, and language revitalization.
