About Sensory-Friendly Days at Halloween on the Hill

Join us at Long Hill for our Sensory & Accessible Friendly Days at Halloween on the Hill! This offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and a quieter sensory-sensitive environment in the midst of our Halloween on the Hill event. This earlier timeframe on select dates is ideal for those who might have little ones, need to make it home early, have a family member with sensory sensitivities, or need accessibility assistance. The 4:00PM time slot takes advantage of the late afternoon sunlight and fewer people for a more accessible experience, whatever the need.

During Sensory-Friendly Days, there will be accommodations made to the trail:

  • No music.
  • No strobing flashes or lights.
  • Vortex Tunnel will not be turned on.
  • Sensory Kits and Social Stories available at check in.
  • Emotion/Action Lanyards available at check in.

Please note that the main path for the show is still the same during this hour and covers uneven terrain with many steps, though with better visibility during the early evening hour. We do have an alternative path established during this hour that is shorter, and provides view of a selection of our pumpkins and displays.

Resources available to prepare for your visit include a Social Story, available in your Know Before You Go Email and a special sensory kit available at check in. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need. Tickets WILL NOT be sold on site; advance purchase of tickets is required. Ticket time represents your arrival window.

FAQ’s

  • Can I change my date or time? At this time, we are unable to accommodate date or time changes.
  • Do children under 2 need a ticket? No. Children under 2 do not need a ticket. Children ages 3-12 need a child’s ticket.
  • Is the site wheelchair or stroller accessible? Unfortunately, the event is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. The trail includes several sets of stairs and uneven terrain.
  • How long does it take to walk through? On average, expect to spend about an hour walking through the property.
  • Are dogs allowed at Halloween on the Hill? No, to protect our gardens, dogs are not allowed on the property during this event.
  • Is the interior of the property open to the public during the show? Unfortunately, the house is not open during this event.
  • Is there a gift shop? We will have a retail Pop-Up Shop open at the beginning of the trail. We will be selling a variety of items for both children and adults at a variety of price points. Please note: Members receive 10% off merchandise at the Retail Pop Up Shop.
  • What should I wear? The event will take place outdoors. Please be prepared to walk through unpaved pathways on uneven terrain through the woods and gardens. Trails may be muddy or icy at times, so sturdy boots are recommended. Dress appropriately for the weather that day. Costumes encouraged!
  • Are the pumpkins real? Our Jack-O-Lanterns are all hand-carved by our staff and volunteers here at Long Hill. They are foam “fun-kins”, a more sustainable and longer lasting product.
  • What is the trail route? The trail starts behind the farmhouse and up through the orchard, along the woodland trail. Then, it continues up the main road to the house and through the tent before circling back down towards the farmhouse, again along the main road.
  • What is the weather policy? This is a Rain or Shine Event. Unsafe or extreme weather will cancel this event. In the event we must cancel due to weather, guests will be notified by email and will receive further information regarding a refund or rebook (when applicable).
  • Can we tailgate at the event? To ensure the safety of all our visitors, tailgating is strictly prohibited.
