About CraneOutdoors: Fascinating Fungi Dune Hike
Mushrooms and lichen abounding! The Crane Estate is a haven for a large diversity of fungi, from the dunes to the maritime forest to the interdunal swales. Join this guided hike, led by local forager and fungi enthusiast Natalie Bowers of the Boston Mycological Club, to learn about these fantastic fungi, how to identify them, and the important role they play in our coastal ecosystems.
This educational hike is geared towards adults. Youth are welcome as long as they can participate in a respectful and non-disruptive way, thus adult supervision is required and adult discretion in youth’s ability to participate is advised. Note: Our mushroom programs are led by knowledgeable guides and focus on the ecology of mushrooms and their vital role in the ecosystem. Please note, in this program we will observe fungi for educational purposes only and not forage or consume. Join us as we discover the wonders of fungi and their natural habitats.
