About CraneOutdoors: Fascinating Fungi Dune Hike

Mushrooms and lichen abounding! The Crane Estate is a haven for a large diversity of fungi, from the dunes to the maritime forest to the interdunal swales. Join this guided hike, led by local forager and fungi enthusiast Jana Harris of Essex Forays to learn about these fantastic fungi, how to identify them, and the important role they play in our coastal ecosystems.

This educational hike is geared towards adults. Youth are welcome as long as they can participate in a respectful and non-disruptive way, thus adult supervision is required and adult discretion in youth’s ability to participate is advised. Please check out our CraneExplorer events for educational programs for all ages. We will not be going off trail or collecting anything.

Note: Our mushroom programs are led by knowledgeable guides and focus on the ecology of mushrooms and their vital role in the ecosystem. Please note, in this program we will observe fungi for educational purposes only and not forage or consume. Join us as we discover the wonders of fungi and their natural habitats.

Rain date: Sunday, October 20th, 10am-12pm. We will inform you at least 24 hours in advance if we decide to reschedule for the rain date.

Program Refunds/Cancellations: In the event that a program is cancelled due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and issue you a full refund within 14 days of the cancellation. If you cannot attend a program as planned, contact the Trustees property 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund or to be rebooked into a future available event. Refunds will not be granted for registration cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program for any reason. There are no refunds for missed events or late arrivals. The Trustees reserves the right to change program locations, schedules, or instructors when necessary. Note: Summer Camps and our inns and campgrounds each have separate cancellation policies.

The starting location and other relevant details for all hikes, kayak paddles, and boat trips will be emailed to registrants approximately 24 hours before the event start at the address provided upon registration. Please note that registration closes 24 hours before the start of the event and we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins or on-site sales. Thank you for understanding.
