About Free Admission: August Adventures with Highland Street Foundation

Admission to Naumkeag on August 7th is FREE for all guests as part of the Highland Street Foundation and the August Adventures Program. Pre-registration is required, however, admission is FREE to all.

Naumkeag, located in the heart of the Berkshires is a historic Gilded Age estate known for its elegant shngle style “cottage” designed by McKim, Mead & White, along with its stunning gardens created by landscape architect Fletcher Steele. Built in 1885 this was once the summer home of prominent lawyer Joseph Choate, his wife Caroline and eventually their daughter Mabel who left the house to the Trustees of Reservations in 1958. The property encompases 48 acres in total including the 44-room estate, 8 acres of formal gardens and acres of meadows and farmland.

Due to its age as well as steep, uneven terrain and multiple sets of stairs, Naumkeag is not wheelchair or stroller-accessible.

To prevent overcrowding, admission tickets will be sold per person and based on a 1-hour arrival window with limited capacity. Please select tickets based on when you would like to arrive to the property. For example, 10AM ticket holders may enter the museum anytime between 10:00AM and 10:59AM.

There will be no guided tours on this day and the house will be open in limited capacity (first floor only). Our outdoor cafe will be open selling light refreshments.
