About Creating an Urban Refuge for Bees

Wanting to delve deeper into the world of pollinators and how urban gardens can play a role in bee conservation? This event will review the requirements for an urban garden to be considered a bee refuge, as well as delving deeper into the nuances of why it all matters – is that a bee or a bee mimic? How do I know if I’m being successful in my efforts to promote bee conservation? What do I plant, anyways? We’ll discuss those topics and more, and learn to “bee” our best in the garden.

The workshop will start at City Natives Plant Nursery and end at the Edgewater Food Forest nextdoor. At each site participants will have a chance to explore and idenifity native & perennial plants that promote pollinator diversity. Several native perennials will be available for purchase as a part of our fall plant sale.

City Natives Plant Nursey is located at 30 Edgewater Drive in Mattapan, a short walk from the Mattapan Center Trolley station.
