By becoming a Powisset Farm shareholder, you help preserve our farmland, create community, and have access to fresh, local, and healthy food!
Historic 109-acre Powisset has been farmed for over 300 years and is surrounded by 2,000 acres of woodlands. Once owned by Amelia Peabody, Powisset Farm is now home to 16 acres of vegetable fields, pastured pigs, grazing fields, walking trails, an educational barnyard, retail farm stand, and state-of-the-art teaching kitchen. Powisset is permanently preserved through the APR (Agricultural Preservation Restriction) program, ensuring it remains a working farm forever.
In 2007, we started our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) operation with 100 members, and continue to grow for summer and winter shares. By purchasing a share at Powisset Farm, CSA members support the farm, create community, and have access to fresh, local, and healthy produce!
Launched in 2016, the Trustees meat CSA runs from fall to spring and offers sustainably-raised, grass-fed and pastured meats from Trustees farms. Meat CSA shares include beef, pork, chicken, and lamb, as well as an add-on option for eggs. This share totals 45lbs of Trustees Grown, 100% grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured pork and chicken, and goat by request. There is one pickup per month.
Shareholders receive one or two grocery bags of produce each week, which feeds a family of 3-6 or two people who cook frequently. Pick-your-own crops are available throughout the season and include cherry tomatoes, peas and beans, hot peppers, herbs, berries and flowers. Each week, shareholders receive an email newsletter that includes information about what to expect in that week’s share, updates from farmers, and opportunities to further connect with Powisset’s community. Our farm stand is open during pickup hours and features other local products and farm goods, in addition to Powisset produce. We also grow veggies for the Trustees’ Mobile Market, which serves low-income neighborhoods in Boston.
