Looking for local, sustainably-raised meat? The Trustees Meat Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program features grass-fed and pastured meats from Trustees farms. Top-quality livestock are raised on the preserved open pastures and forests of Moose Hill Farm in Sharon, Chestnut Hill Farm in Southborough, Powisset Farm in Dover, Appleton Farms in Ipswich, Katama Farm in Edgartown, and Weir River Farm in Hingham.

Participating in the Trustees Meat CSA helps support Trustees farms and a strong local food system. Our practices — good for our animals and for the land — produce healthy, delicious meat!

CSA shares include beef, pork, chicken, and lamb. An add-on option for eggs is also available.

New this year, the Trustees Meat CSA is available year-round on a monthly subscription basis. Current meat CSA members have priority, and available new slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How Does The Trustees Meat CSA Work?
CSA members subscribe to the Trustees Meat CSA and receive a “share” of meat on a monthly basis. Choose the frequency that best suits your needs: once-a-month or twice-a-month pickups. Each pickup includes 7 lbs. of frozen meat. You share will include beef, pork, chicken, and/or lamb and cuts will vary, ranging from steaks to ground beef and chops to sausage. You can also add free-range eggs to your share. Special requests (e.g. no pork, no lamb, beef-only) can often be accommodated.

Subscriptions are charged on a monthly basis. We require a 3-month minimum subscription, and we strongly recommend at least 6 months to ensure you get to try a full seasonal selection of the delicious meats we offer. Although we hope you stay with us throughout the year, you can cancel your subscription at any point after the 3-month minimum period.

We will share cooking tips and recipes each month and hope to provide CSA members with a chance to try some new and adventurous meals while accommodating the supper-time realities of everyday life!

How Much Does The Trustees Meat CSA Cost?
Twice-a-month shares cost $154/month; once-a-month shares cost $77/month. Eggs can be added to either share at $12/month for 2 dozen eggs. Meat CSA prices represent a discount from our retail prices.

When and where do I pick up my Trustees Meat CSA share?
Pickups are available on either a twice-a-month or once-a-month schedule, usually the first and/or third full weeks of the month. Upon registration, we will contact you with your first pick-up date and a schedule of upcoming pick-ups.

Pickup at the location most convenient to you:

  • Appleton Farms, Ipswich: Monday–Friday: 11AM–6PM, Saturday & Sunday: 10AM–4PM
  • Chestnut Hill Farm, Southborough: Tuesday 2-6PM, plus additional summer farmstand hours
  • Moose Hill Farm, Sharon: Thursday 2-6PM
  • Powisset Farm, Dover: Wednesday 2-6PM, plus additional summer farmstand hours
  • Weir River Farm, Hingham: Wednesday from 2-6PM or Saturday from 11AM-3PM
  • Barrel House Z, Weymouth: Wednesdays from 4-7pm
  • Marshfield Farmer’s Market, Marshfield: Saturdays 10AM-2PM

How are Trustees animals raised and what are they fed?
The grass-fed cattle are raised on the pastures of Moose Hill Farm in Sharon, Appleton Farms in Ipswich, Powisset Farm in Dover, and Chestnut Hill Farm in Southborough. Managed with rotational grazing practices, habitat preservation models for ground nesting birds and minimal stress through sustainable stocking, the meat is of top quality.

The pigs are raised at Moose Hill Farm, Powisset Farm, and Weir River Farm in Hingham on both pastures and in woods, all perfect habitats for pigs. The pigs are fed freshly packed grain, vegetables, breads and spent barley grain from local businesses.

The meat chickens are raised at Chestnut Hill Farm and Weir River Farm with both space and access to grass and freshly packed grain.

The lambs are raised at Chestnut Hill Farm, Powisset Farm, and in the beautiful coastal sandplain pastures of Katama Farm in Edgartown.

The eggs come from laying hens pastured at Chestnut Hill Farm and Moose Hill Farm.
