About Trustees-Grown Meat Shares

Looking for local, sustainably-raised meat in Massachusetts? The Trustees Meat Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program features grass-fed and pastured meats from Trustees farms. Top-quality livestock are raised on the preserved open pastures and forests of Moose Hill Farm in Sharon, Chestnut Hill Farm in Southborough, Powisset Farm in Dover, Appleton Farms in Ipswich, and Weir River Farm in Hingham.

Participating in the Trustees Meat CSA helps support Trustees farms and a strong local food system. Our practices — good for our animals and for the land — produce healthy, delicious meat!

How are Trustees animals raised and what are they fed?
The grass-fed cattle are raised on the pastures of Appleton Farms in Ipswich and Weir River Farm in Hingham. Managed with rotational grazing practices, habitat preservation models for ground nesting birds, and minimal stress through sustainable stocking, the meat is of top quality.

The pigs are raised at Powisset Farm in Dover, on both pastures and in woods, all perfect habitats for pigs. The pigs are fed vegetables, breads, and spent barley grain from local businesses.

Meat chickens and layers are raised on pasture and integrated with vegetable crop rotations.

The lambs are raised on pasture at Chestnut Hill Farm in Southborough.
